Bozho
(Hello),

There will be a District 4 meeting April 21 in Rossville, Kansas. I will have further details regarding the meeting in the March and April issues of the Hownikan. I am still working on dates and locations for meetings this spring in Kansas City and Wichita.

If you or family members would like to be named at any of these meetings, contact me as soon as possible so I can send you the necessary form I use to start the process and create an appropriate name for you.

March elders potluck

The February Elders Potluck is noon Feb. 9 in the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Community Center in Rossville. For the second month in a row, Mike Martin will hold beginners flute lessons starting at 10:30 a.m. before lunch. Flutes will be provided. The Senior Support Network staff has asked that you RSVP by calling 785-584-6171 if you plan on attending.

I understand that Tracy and Pam plan to prepare a bison meatloaf as the main course. The recipe is from the article about chef Loretta Barrett Oden in the November issue of the Hownikan. You are asked to bring a side dish or dessert.

Changes to Health Aid Program

We have recently been informed that there have been two changes made to the Health Aid Program. First, the Health Aid Program form changed in November. Please use the new form beginning now.

You can find the new form online by going to the Citizen Potawatomi Nation website (www.potawatomi.org) and selecting services, then health and then Health Aid Program. In the lower-left corner, you will find a downloadable Health Aid Packet. Click on that, and you will be able to print the new form. You also can contact me, and I will send you a copy. Second, the vision benefit has changed. The Health Aid Program will now pay the first $250 for corrective eyewear.

Questions about services and benefits

Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or need clarification about any of the services and benefits offered by the Nation, including enrollment, mail-order pharmacy, scholarships and health aids. I will not always know the answer, but I will know the person or department to call to begin the process of getting you an answer.

Honored to serve you

It is an honor to serve you as your representative. I appreciate hearing from CPN members in Kansas, whether it’s by letter, email, phone call or in the office. Please let me know how I can be of assistance to you.

If you are not receiving emails from me, it is because I do not have your current email address or what I have is incorrect. All you need to do is send me your email address, and I will enter you into my District 4 information file.
