Cristo Rey Oklahoma City Catholic High School is a unique new school opening its doors Aug. 10, 2018 to its first class of ninth graders. Cristo Rey is committed to academic excellence and seeing 100 percent of its graduates enrolled in college.
Cristo Rey OKC is part of the national Cristo Rey Network, which caters to families in underserved, inner-city and economically disadvantaged communities through a unique corporate work-study program. Through the program, students work one day a week at local partnering companies, each of which pays them a stipend used to offset tuition costs.
In addition to giving students valuable, real-life work experience, the work-study program also allows the school to offer affordable tuition, available on a sliding scale based on the needs of each students’ family income. Cristo Rey is committed to working with every family to find a tuition scale that works for them.
The Cristo Rey Network is the only network of high schools in the country that integrates four years of college preparatory academics with professional work experience through its corporate work-study program. The network is comprised of 32 Catholic college preparatory schools that serve 11,521 students across 21 states and Washington, D.C., and collectively claim 13,366 graduates.
In addition to world-class academics, Cristo Rey OKC offers traditional sports programming such as basketball, track and tennis, as well as golf and rowing (free for students, thanks to partnerships with generous local nonprofits). The school’s growing list of extracurricular activities supports a vibrant campus atmosphere and encourages students to pursue their interests and passions.
As a Catholic school, Cristo Rey emphasizes teachings that help students become young men and women of faith, purpose and service. Sports, extracurricular activities and the corporate work-study program each help them realize their intellectual, emotional and spiritual potential.
The Oklahoma City school is accepting applications on a first-come, first-served basis. To apply or for more information, visit cristoreyokc.org.
