CPN employee writes Oscar nominated song

CPN Housing Department Director and Osage Nation tribal member Scott George is the first Native American to be nominated for an Academy Award for Music (Original Song) for his composition of “Wahzhazhe (A Song for My People),” featured in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon.

In May 2022, the much-anticipated film adaptation of Killers of the Flower Moon shot one final scene at the Osage Nation campus in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. CPN Housing Director and Osage Nation tribal member Scott George composed one of the songs used in the shoot.
