The mug entitled “Forkgotten” features a coral reef with a plastic fork as a handle to show human disruption through pollution. The nesting plates entitled “Before & After” feature the before (top plate) and after (bottom plate) picture of an oil spill. Korzeniewski said, “The theme of my pieces is nature with an element of human disruption.”

Work 1: This is a hand-quilted bargello lap quilt. The piecing and quilting both emphasize movement in the form of this wave pattern. Work 2: This is a hand-quilted throw quilt. The quilt’s piecing emphasizes vertical stripes and yellow, light blue, and red Dutchman’s Puzzle blocks that follow diagonal lines. The borders are quilted with a spiral pattern. Work 3: This is a hand-quilted queen size quilt, also a bargello quilt.

“This is the graduation cap I wore at my Purdue University graduation in May 2021. I spent months beading it because I felt it was important to represent my culture. I saw a white buffalo a few years ago and it gave me hope for my generation so I wanted to include it. The hummingbird represents my name, Nanogaskwe. I’m starting law school at Marquette University Law School in August and hope to represent my people in the future.”
