Healing over time: Understanding the neurobiological changes of addiction and recovery

A biography of presenter Dr. Julio Rojas as well as an outline of the program are given; all text is reproduced in the body of this event.

Citizen Potawatomi Nation Behavioral Health Services presents this free community event on understanding addiction and its impact on the brain. There will be a presentation by Dr. Julio Rojas, Ph.D., LADC, followed by a panel of individuals at various stages of recovery. Booths featuring community organizations, agencies, family resources, and recovery & support groups will be present. There will be door prizes!

Dr. Julio I. Rojas is a Licensed Health Service Psychologist and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor for Citizen Potawatomi Nation Behavioral Health Services. His work has focused on treatment and training issues related to addictive disorders, psychiatric comorbidity and trauma, with dedication to advancing the understanding of substance use disorders and use of integrated treatment.

Dr. Rojas was previously an Associate Professor in psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Throughout his award-winning career, he has held various leadership roles in both state and national psychological associations, contributed to educational videos, been an expert witness in opioid trials, and helped create progressive clinical treatment for a new addiction recovery center in Edmond, OK.

This event is approved 2 hour CEU for LADC, CADC, LPC and LMFT and 20 hours of community service.
